Wow,


I just realized that it's been 3 years since my last job, which I got laid off from (out of no fault of mine, if you will). Reason I had gotten laid off from Opportunity Tree (a job placement agency here in Madison) is fairly simple: My supervisor was having financial issues. However, in the weeks leading up to that, I had gotten a total of 2 bounced paychecks (only one of which was paid back). Plus, the guy owed me a substantial amount of back pay for the month of January, back in 2007.

So anyways, I had asked for help from the Labor Standards government agency, and they had sent the asshole about 2 or 3 letters on my behalf, stating that he owed me money, and they needed to respond by a certain date, but over time, it became apparent that they weren't very helpful. I had honestly lost quite a bit of self-confidence after that, and so I took a long break

Fast forward......Even though I keep hearing that the job market's in bad shape right now, I start applying for jobs, and honestly, I have been trying to stay positive through all this, and keep at it (a.k.a "Don't ever give up. Just keep trying") _{(I won't forget this for a long time, Alison, I promise)}. Now, I'm convinced that going back to school is the best option for me at this point, so I can update my skills (It's been suggested to me several times that I should look into going for the Graphic Design program at MATC Truax, and honestly, I don't see why I shouldn't do that). Look at all the work I've done in the past, for one).


Yes, I know I messed up real bad back in 2005, but let's keep it real, shall we? I mean, Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer a while BEFORE I started school then, and I will not lie, it hit everyone in my family hard. How ANYONE could go to school, with shit like that happening, and expect to not mess up at all is COMPLETELY beyond me (unless of course, you're a selfish, un-caring jackass, in which case, I could understand then).

As of this journal update, I've decided that now is the best time to focus on going back to school. I WANT to pursue my passion )which is Graphic Design), and I want to do it not just for myself, but for Mom as well. I want to make her proud, since I very vividly remember her saying that she wanted me to be able to support myself (and that was a while before she eventually passed away).
